We rode horses, English style, in a field of olive trees.
Ryan even rode with his eyes closed. That’s talent.
We had some help along the way.
Mom had a small heart attack. She was air-lifted in a private helicopter ride from Saint James to Mankato. In Mankato, she received a stent. She is feeling fine. We visited her several times to cheer her up.
Our Niece is 4. And every 4 year-old needs a good ABC book. For Christmas, Ryan and I wrote and published (albeit, self-published at our local Walmart) a children’s ABC book.
Some of the highlights.

El Ateneo Grand in Buenos Aires, Argentina was ranked the 2nd best bookstore in the world by UK’s The Guardian. We haven’t visited any of the others on the list (it’s on the list of things to do though), so we don’t have anything with to compare.
El Ateneo was a theater initially named ‘Gran Teatro Splandid’ which was first opened in May 1919. In 2000, the theater area was changed into a bookstore.
The Pooparazzi opened for business in April of 2010. The Pooparazzi specialized in pet waste removal. We picked up dog shit and scooped out kitty litter boxes.
And we sent out the above flier looking for more shit. We received an array of responses from angry that we assumed they didn’t pick up their poop to smiles thinking it was the best advertisement ever. You win some, you lose some.
We had company uniforms too!
And during the summer we had some extra help, mostly Jose (our foreign exchange student).
Then after one wonderful year of cleaning up animal feces, we sold out.

Not only did we cut down a Christmas tree, we cut down a Christmas tree from our very own yard. Well, we didn’t cut down the Christmas tree per se, but there was a very heavy snow and the pine tree fell from the weight.
And since we didn’t have a Christmas tree, we brought in the ugly thing and decorated it.
To be clear this pine “tree” looked more like a pine bush. Obviously, from the picture you can tell it looked like a million bucks with the lights and decorations (Not pictured are the ones that we received at our Ugly Christmas Tree Decoration Party).
We made it work.
