@ Varsity Theater 4/12

I won tickets to Citypage’s Artists Against the Marriage Amendment concert at Varsity Theater in Dinkytown. It was an event to raise awareness about the Marriage Amendment appearing on the November 2012 ballot.

The question that will be on the ballot?

“Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to provide that only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in Minnesota?”

  • YES
  • NO

Ryan and I went for a night out, enjoying the music and listening to all the arguments against the Marriage Amendment.

It was our first time at the Varsity Theater in Dinkytown. It is a fun and comfy concert venue. We scored a intimate table to ourselves on the sidelines. The show was acoustic and personal. There were a dozen or so artists who played a few songs and shared their view point on the Marriage Amendment. The night wrapped up with all the performers coming together for a surprise sing-a-long of the Beatle’s “All You Need is Love.”

And really that is what the night was all about: a celebration of love. Whatever the marriage amendment outcome is, one thing is for sure, Varsity was filled with loving couples, both homosexual and heterosexual. And in the end “All you need is love.”
